Camp Brainy Bunch is hiring enthusiastic summer directors to lead and inspire our campers this summer!

Camp Brainy Bunch runs summer day camps at various locations throughout the Bay Area. Our curriculum combines the best parts of school (learning!) with the best parts of camp (fun!).  Each week our instructors teach a different curriculum designed to help our campers try on new identities as doctors, lawyers, writers, engineers, explorers, and detectives.  We are hiring educators who love kids and love teaching!

Student Grades: 1st-6th
Hour/Week: 40

Directors may be hired for one or more weeks. Those available for more weeks will be given priority in order to create consistency for the students

  • Sunnyvale                          June 17 - Jul 26 (M-F)
  • San Jose (East)                 June 17 - Jul 26 (M-F)


Camp Director Responsibilities

Pre-Camp Preparation

  • Attend Director Training and meetings via zoom to receive required training and prepare for camp
  • Join other site directors to help lead teacher and camp counselor training. 
  • With assistance, prepare materials and logistics for your program sites
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection of support staff for your site. 

Opportunities for bonus income (up to 10 hours per week available March - June)

  • Recruiting: Assist in the recruitment of students to grow enrollment at your site by reaching out to local influencers, posting on parent groups, holding coffee hours or zoom open houses, attending camp fairs, and helping to spread the word about why Camp Brainy Bunch is an awesome place to spend the summer!

Camp: Let the Fun Begin (June 19 - Aug 5)

  • Directors are responsible for one camp location 
  • Directors are model educators that provide curriculum and instruction to campers
  • Responsible for the successful daily operations of camp, continuous satisfaction of all campers and parents, and leadership of all site staff (this may mean you are the one taking the lead in acting crazy, singing a song, or doing a silly dance)
  • Lead and guide staff, ensuring high energy and complete delivery of all curriculum, games, and activities
  • Maintain daily communication with parents/guardians
  • Work within a set budget of supplies and staff time
  • Keep Division Director updated and informed of daily success and needs
  • Build and maintain outstanding relationships with facility staff and representatives

Qualifications

  • College graduate or Equivalent Experience in a field directly related to camp activities (Graduate Degree Preferred)
  • Direct experience working with elementary-age children
  • Staff leadership/management experience a plus
  • Ability, experience, and skills necessary to teach curriculum
  • Comfort with performing/speaking in front of groups
  • Creativity, trustworthy, high-energy, passionate about life and the chance to make a difference in children's lives, inspiring, excellent communicator, organized, flexible, and ambitious problem solver
  • Desire to become a part of our community and return for several summers of fun
